let’s get to work
The Association of Minority Enterprises of New York, Inc. (AMENY) was established over 27 years ago, as a non-profit organization to provide technical assistance training and to increase the opportunities for minority and women-owned businesses.
In its early years, AMENY demonstrated its effectiveness as an advocate for New York City minority and women-owned businesses by promoting favorable affirmative action and procurement set-aside legislation for minority contractors.
The AMENY membership is composed of manufacturing, construction, transportation and service companies. Although our primary focus has been in New York City, we promote MWBES statewide. Our major goals are to provide leadership and to help the members become a more competitive and established viable business, so that they may receive parity in the market place.
AMENY’s technical assistance programs help in obtaining information and access to city, state, and federal programs available to MWBES. AMENY informs the MWBE community about new regulations governing procurement contracting and small business set-asides.
AMENY has assisted over 4000 minority businesses statewide since its inception. These businesses have received a number of contracts. AMENY has been successful in matching minority suppliers with prime contractors in the private industry.
AMENY’s access to the target population has been well established over the years and interfaces with several government agencies and major corporations. Because of its access to these various agencies, AMENY helps implement yearly activities that benefit MWBE businesses. AMENY is well-rooted in the community and our established linkages with other agencies provide a supportive environment to the MWBE community.
